PANNAR Midlands Maze Now Open

In an effort to promote agritourism and introduce the urban public to agriculture in an innovative, fun way, PANNAR SEED recently opened the PANNAR Midlands Maze, one of the largest of its kind in South Africa and a first for KwaZulu-Natal.
 
Situated at the popular Piggly Wiggly Centre on the R103 Midlands Meander route, the maze is a one hectare formation of 65 000 PAN 6Q-445B maize plants with around 20 000 removed to form the pathways for visitors to navigate. The route is signposted with information boards to educate visitors on maize, soybeans and forage sorghum. An aerial view of the maze reveals its PANNAR logo design.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by John Odendaal (PANNAR SEED Marketing Manager: KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Highveld), James Williams (PANNAR SEED Sales Representative), Piggly Wiggly owners Rudi and Cindy Kassier as well as an intrepid group of children from Tumble Downs Preschool. After the formalities, the preschoolers were among the first to experience the exciting challenge of finding their way through the maze.

Be sure to visit before the end of June when the maize will be harvested.
